The founder and president of Period Construction, Ed Goerig, is committed to quality, innovative home building and remodeling. A resident of the Heights for more than 20 years, Ed works throughout Houston’s vintage inner-Loop neighborhoods, building graceful homes that reflect the period style of the area or restoring and sympathetically remodeling historic homes to modern living standards.

A native of La Grange, Texas, Ed learned his craft working for contractors who also restored historic homes and buildings. He graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in accounting, earned his CPA license, and began a career with Ernst & Young.   Ed was the controller at a local company when it was purchased in 2008.  This transition allowed Ed to head out in a different direction – back to his original passion, home construction and historic home remodeling.

That early career in finance is a large component of Period Construction’s success. Ed pays attention to the details and paces his projects to make sure that he can spend as much time as possible on each one. He keeps job sites moving through a personal commitment to have workers on-site every weekday and to stick to the schedule.

Period Construction’s Craftsman-style new homes and remodeled homes appeal to first-time buyers, families, young professionals, and empty nesters. “Quality is my priority, and I design a new home, or remodel a vintage home, as if I were going to live there,” Ed says. “I source and install vintage architectural elements including interior and exterior doors and pocket doors, newel posts, and especially stained-glass windows, and am always on the hunt for interesting building components.”

Ed strikes a balance with his work, volunteer, and home life. He served as president on the PTA board for his daughters’ school, and volunteers at his family’s church in Sunday school and vacation bible school classes.
